National Reform Programmes are out now – young people should have a say!

Dear Member Organisations,

The European Union is now in middle of an important task – all the 27 Member States are writing their National Reform Programmes (NRPs) that will be the main reporting instrument until year 2020 on how the Europe 2020 Strategy is implemented. NRPs are the response not only to the Strategy itself but all the Flagship Initiatives, including Youth on the Move and Agenda for New Skills and Jobs.

Most of the Member States have now submitted their drafts that should be publicly available.

WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

Young people, in times of crisis and economic austerity, do not need nice words but strong investments. Young people must be a political and financial priority for Europe.

We are going to ask the European Parliament and EU Member States for a strong and independent Youth in Action Programme for non-formal education, youth work and democratic youth organisations and an ambitious European Youth Employment Plan.

Imprisoned Iranian students need your support

Dear members of the European Youth Forum,

I'm writing on behalf of Iranian Progressive Youth (IPY) to express our urgent concern over the (health) conditions of the imprisoned student activists in Iran.

We just heard that Bahareh Hedayat, a 29 year old woman, who has been nominated for the International student Peace Prize started on a hunger strike against the severe conditions under which she is being held, some days ago. Mahdieh Golrou, another imprisoned student activist, has joined her in this protest as well for the same reason.
