Youth in Action Monitor 1/2012

A brief on YiA to Member organisations of European Youth Forum

With this Youth in Action briefing note European Youth Forum (YFJ) wants to report about the current developments in YiA, advocacy actions taken towards YiA 2.0 and explain about the YFJs monitoring system on the YiA. This is the first Youth in Action Monitor 2012 and similar notes will follow up during the year to keep Member Organisations (MOs) updated on the developments of the support and action taken on Youth in Action.

Save the Date: 16 May 2012 is YO! Fest

Imagine: young interns of Europe invading the European Parliament Esplanade for a full day of activities, debates, concerts and exhibitions all around on the theme of Quality Internships. Brussels, 16 May 2012, YO! Fest is back! Are you in?

The European Youth Forum dedicates this year's YO! Fest to the promotion of quality internships and apprenticeships for young people. We will present the European Charter for Quality Internships and Apprenticeships (haven't signed it yet? Click here.

Youth Policy Watch Issue 47

In this issue of Youth Policy Watch, read about the EU Informal Summit which took place on Monday 30th January. European leaders convened to put in place measures to curb youth unemployment. Also in this issue, read more about the creation of a United Nations Special Representative for Youth, the unveiling of a new website for the European Citizens’ Initiative and the 25th anniversary of the Erasmus programme.

The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the longest running television shows in the world. It was on the 24th of May, 1956, that Europe saw the first ever Eurovision Song Contest. After 56 runnings, the contest is one of the most typical European traditions and without doubt, Europe's favorite TV show! Council of Europe: A new human rights education pack

Rights and freedoms in practice – teaching resources is a new education pack published by the Council of Europe.

Designed for secondary school teachers, it makes both a theoretical and a practical contribution to classroom discussion of human rights with pupils aged 14 to 18.

It provides learners with vital information about the Strasbourg Organisation, the European Convention on Human Rights, the European Court of Human Rights and the way cases are dealt with.
